Kickbike route, half day

Utrecht city route by kickbike

A relaxed loop of approx. 14 km along the city moat, through Wilhelminapark and along the Oudegracht canal. The route comes free with every kickbike rental, for groups of 8 people or more. A great way to show visitors the best of Utrecht in one morning or afternoon.

The route in brief

A relaxed loop along the moat around the city centre, through Wilhelminapark and along the Oudegracht canal. There is time for coffee on a terrace along the way.

The moat (the "singel") forms a ring around the old city centre. So you ride mostly along the water and on cycle paths, and only head into the crowds where it is worth it: at the Oudegracht and the Dom Tower.

Why by kickbike

Utrecht is flat and compact. On a kickbike you are faster than on foot, but slow enough to see everything. You ride side by side and simply keep talking.

Leisurely riders do about 10 km per hour. With a coffee stop halfway, that brings you to the roughly three hours the route takes.

Tips for the ride

Around the Oudegracht and the Dom Tower it is often busy with cyclists and pedestrians. Ride slowly there and stay together as a group. Along the moat and in Wilhelminapark you have more space.

Kickbikes use the cycle path, just like bicycles. Agree on a terrace or coffee spot in advance, so everyone knows where the group meets up again.

How you get the route

We send the routes along with the invoice, so you can follow them on your phone. This is still a sample route: the final map will follow. Want to pass a particular lunch or drinks spot? Add it to the comments and we will take it into account.

Wherever you like. We deliver the kickbikes to the starting point you choose, anywhere within 15 km of Utrecht. Griftpark, Lepelenburg park and the wharves along the Oudegracht are popular starting points, because the route passes close by.
