A kick scooter for adults
A kickbike looks like a bicycle without a saddle or pedals. At the front there is a large wheel, at the back a smaller one, and between them a low footboard you stand on. You steer with ordinary bicycle handlebars.
There is no motor and there are no gears. Everything runs on your own power.
How to ride
Put one foot on the footboard and push off against the ground with the other. Then roll for a while. When one leg gets tired, you simply switch.
There is nothing to learn and you do not need to be sporty. Within two minutes the whole group has the hang of it.
How fast do you go?
At an easy pace you do about 10 km per hour. If you put some effort in, you get close to 18. Because everyone sets their own pace, a group easily stays together. A kickbike is stable on cobbles and cycle paths.
Kickbike or bicycle?
On a kickbike you stand upright and ride side by side, so you can simply keep talking. That makes it ideal for a group: nobody races off and nobody drops out.
On the road, the same rules apply as for bicycles. So ride on the cycle path, and leave the kickbike parked if you have had too much to drink.
